Well, today is my legal birthday. When I was born in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic, a mother could not get a birth certificate until the father was presence to declare him/her. I was born on October 6 but my father did not arrive until January 18. So, my legal birthday is January 18 and my real birthday is October 6. For a long time, this bothered me. The fact that my father did not show up until 3 months later. I felt unwanted by my father. But I have come to understand that I can celebrate two birthdays. Instead of thinking on the negative, this has turned out to be a real blessing. Who gets to celebrate two birthdays? What a unique opportunity to celebrate life twice. So, I feel incredibly specials. I feel that this was not an oversight God. From Romans 8:28 I understand that my birthday date was not overlooked by God. I can see the good in having two birthdays. I get gives twice a year. And I do get gift from my family on each birthdays. How lucky I am.
So, if you would like to give me a gift today, here is what I would like. First, I will be so happy if you could commit to pray for the spiritual, emotional and physical health of our Breath of Life leadership and our families (Henry and Maria, Richard and Judy Price, Raquel and myself) and for our efforts to multiple disciples this year, I will be so happy. Below is a list of what you could pray for us. Would you commit to pray for 1 hour per week this while year? Would you let me know that you are praying? We are raising 1500 people this year who would commit to pray for us and or disciple making efforts. Join our mailing list by following the texting us per the attached information so that we can keep you updated on how we are doing.
Second, I have a pastor in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, Rederto Rodriguez, who has been working on building his house for the last year and has not moved in it because he still needs to finish the bathrooms, kitchen and the closets. He needs $5000 USA to finish this. Would you give what you can towards his house? Reberto is one of Breath of Life partners in this city of Monte Cristi. Reberto is a young leader who is working in a very hard community where the image of the church has been torn by past bad leadership and bad teachings. This is a city who has been known for burying pastors and their families due to the spiritual oppression and plain hardship that leaders have to make a living and dedicate themselves to the work of the church. With your gift, Pastor Reberto will be able to move his family from the house which he is now renting. It will be a great financial relief for them. Additionally, this house will provide adequate shelter for him, his wife and three children. The house is closer to the church and has more space for him to provide bible studies, training, provide better pastoral care for his people and be more present in his community. Below are some pictures of the construction and current state of the house.
Your tax deductible gift will empower a great servant of God to focus on making disciples in this city of Monte Cristi and it will help the mission of Breath of Life as we continue to develop leaders in this city. Please click on the donate to Breath of Life button below and bless this pastor and his family.
Thank you for giving me this gift.
