Randall M. Collins DVM - Portland, Tn.
On October 21-29/2016 I was able to serve on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic through Christian Veterinary Missions, partnered with Breath of Life International(BOLI). BOLI is a dynamic ministry that works with under privileged, graduating high school students to give them an opportunity to pursue a college education. The mission team that went to the Dominican helped to mentor the BOLI students in areas of medicine and education outreach, street evangelism(including motorcyclists), kids outreach and veterinary outreach. My desire and hope was to use my skills as a veterinarian to help the farmers in the Dominican Republic. Prior to our trip, it was pointed out depending on the weather and farmer participation I should not get my expectations too high as that could alter veterinary input and necessitate working with a different ministry team. That was okay with me as I went with an attitude to be available to where God wanted to use me. Because of a torrential rainstorm that interrupted a goat farm visit, I was able to give my testimony to a high school assembly of about 150 students the following day. After our team leader shared, 3 students prayed to receive Christ. This was very exciting and rewarding to see how God intervened.
